YIMBY Placemaking: Architecture of Global Events
Schedule
Wed May 27 2026 at 05:30 pm to 07:00 pm
UTC-06:00Location
26 S Rio Grande St, Salt Lake City, UT 84101-1179, United States | Salt Lake City, UT
Hosted by Wasatch Advocates for Livable Communities (WALC), this event will create a cross-cultural dialogue on design, development, and placemaking. Through a moderated panel featuring internationally recognized experts like José António Bandeirinha and Jorge Figueira, alongside local leaders, attendees will examine how large-scale events have influenced the built environment in both Europe and the United States. The conversation will highlight lessons from Utah’s own legacy infrastructure following the 2002 Winter Olympics, while exploring how policies around walkability, mixed-use development, and housing affordability can shape more livable communities.
Participants can expect a dynamic evening of short presentations, a curated panel discussion, and opportunities to connect with peers across architecture, planning, and development. The event is designed to spark new partnerships, including deeper engagement with organizations like Visit Salt Lake and the American Institute of Architects, and to invite professionals to get involved in advancing housing and placemaking solutions across the Wasatch Region.
Whether you’re an architect, planner, developer, or community advocate, this is an opportunity to engage with big ideas—and help shape what comes next.
