Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) is pleased to invite you to join us for our International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026 celebration at the Stantec Tower on March 12th.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, speaks to the power of investing in others through mentorship, leadership, and sponsorship to create stronger, more inclusive organizations and a more resilient energy sector.

To bring this theme to life, we are hosting a female executive panel featuring senior leaders from Keyera, Inter Pipeline, and Gibson Energy.

Panelists
Mirela Hiti, VP of Engineering, Gibson Energy 

As Vice President, Engineering, Mirela Hiti provides strategic direction and oversight for Gibson Energy’s engineering and project delivery functions. With more than 20 years of experience across the energy, utility, and telecom sectors in Canada and Europe, Mirela brings a diverse background spanning engineering and research, project and change management, vendor management, strategy development and execution, and management consulting. 

Throughout her career, Mirela has developed deep insight into the technical and operational needs of complex organizations, positioning her to lead Gibson’s engineering function in support of safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Prior to joining Gibson, she held senior engineering and project leadership roles, leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering impactful, cross-functional business transformation initiatives. 

Mirela holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and an MBA from Université Laval, as well as a Master’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Zagreb. She is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. Mirela is also active in the community and serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Calgary Drop-In Centre. 

Jacqueline O’Toole, Director, Pipeline Operations 

As Director of Pipeline Field Operations at Inter Pipeline, Jacqueline O’Toole brings more than two decades of leadership across operations, engineering, project management, integrity, and risk stewardship. Known for transforming teams and elevating operational performance, she has built her career on a central conviction: organizations gain their greatest strength when leaders give first - by investing in people, strengthening trust, and creating conditions where others can excel. 

Jacqueline’s experience spans senior roles at Pembina Pipeline, Tidewater Midstream & Renewables, and Husky Energy, where she led multidisciplinary teams through major operational challenges, cultural renewal, large‑scale integration, and complex risk‑reduction initiatives. She is recognized for maturing Operational Excellence systems, resolving high‑risk integrity issues, improving financial predictability, and fostering transparent, psychologically safe team environments. 

A Professional Engineer with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Jacqueline has received multiple industry honors, including the Young Women in Energy Award, the CEO’s Award of Excellence for Process & Occupational Safety, and the Innovates Crystal Award for technological innovation. 

As the mother of an energetic six‑year‑old, Jacqueline credits parenthood with strengthening her empathy, resilience, and ability to lead through unpredictability. Whether skiing, hiking, camping, gardening, or making music together, she finds grounding in outdoor and creative pursuits. She and her son are currently co‑designing and planning the build of an outdoor play fort‑ he envisioned - an exercise in curiosity, collaboration, and early project‑management principles that reinforces her belief that leadership is fundamentally about enabling others to build, grow, and imagine boldly. 

Jackie Parker, Area Manager - LI Terminals, Keyera 

In her current role, Ms. Parker is responsible for overseeing Keyera’s Terminals and Sulphur Handling Facility, providing operational leadership across terminal operations, logistics, and stakeholder interfaces. 

Ms. Parker joined Keyera as the KAPS Superintendent, where she played a key role in bringing the project safely into service in 2023. Prior to Keyera, she held progressive operational and leadership positions with BP/Amoco, Plains Midstream, and Imperial Oil, spanning field operations, console operations, pipeline coordination, and district leadership. 

Ms. Parker holds a Power Engineering Technology diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). She began her career as a field operator in Western Canada and advanced through a series of operational and supervisory roles that reflect more than two decades of experience in energy infrastructure. 

She credits the support of her husband and three children throughout her career.
