Year of the Dragon: 2024 GCC LNY Celebration

Glow Cultural Center proudly presents our most popular event of the year - the 2024 Lunar New Year Celebration - at the historic Flushing landmark, Flushing Town Hall! Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of a traditional Lunar New Year festival, open to families, friends, and people of all ages as we welcome the influential Year of the Dragon together. Deeply inspired by the cultural experiences that shape Asian immigrants, GCC always strives for the most authentic exhibitors, performers, and content to recreate a feeling of belonging and wonder for our community members. 

Featuring headliners such as two-time Guinness World Record holder Lina Liu’s foot juggling umbrellas, Sichuan Opera Face Changing, and  “Happy Chef” Chinese acrobat Yang Xiao Di, this is an event for the family that you do not want to miss! 

Event Schedule (WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR)

11:30 AM

The festivities kick off in the morning at Glow Cultural Center with our crowd-favorite Lion Dance Parade, including a traditional Chinese wedding procession complete with a bridal palanquin 轿子! The year of the Wood Dragon is considered extremely lucky for marriage and long term commitment, so we hope this representative wedding team may bless anyone looking to tie the knot in the year 2024. Be on the lookout for the God of Fortune 福神 and the Jade Emperor 玉皇大帝 for exclusive Lunar New Year gifts! 

*Tips for parade-goers: wear red, be prepared to meet traditional Chinese deities, and share many well-wishes!

Starting before noon, our cultural bazaar will open in Flushing Town Hall’s 1st floor gallery, with an alluring spread of traditional Lunar New Year snacks, Hanfu inspired accessories, and Chinese artisans! In addition to exquisite dough figurines, calligraphy, and traditional Hanfu try-on, let your five senses enjoy the festive atmosphere through the savory aroma of roasted chestnuts, tanghulu,
