We are ecstatic to be presenting an evening with two pioneers of thee avant-garde. Both artists have pushed the boundaries of sound design and improvisation and have traveled the world doing so. Both educators, both exquisite experimentalists, deep listeners, and breathe taking composers.
Sarah Belle Reid & Gretchen Jude
Each presenting solo performances before ending the night with a unique collaborative improvised performance. Aided by projectionist Atticus J. Reo, it will be a night of immersive, expansive and provoking sound art.

@sarahbellereid is a performer-composer who plays trumpet, modular synthesizer, and an ever-growing collection of handcrafted electronic instruments. A vanguard of musical boundaries, her unique musical voice explores the intersections between contemporary classical music, experimental and interactive electronics, visual arts, noise music, and improvisation. Often praised for her ability to transport audience members through vivid sonic adventures, Reid’s sonic palette has been described as ranging from “graceful” and “danceable” all the way to “silk-falling-through-space,” and “pit-full-of-centipedes” (San Francisco Classical Voice).
Sarah has performed with legends such as Charlie Haden’s Liberation Orchestra, Wadada Leo Smith, Julia Holter & David Rosenboom to name a few and runs an online music education company dedicated to teaching sound synthesis and electroacoustic composition to professional and hobbyist musicians. She has mentored thousands of musicians from around the world in her online programs, and is a frequent guest lecturer at notable institutions globally.

Gretchen Jude @anemoneanomaly ‘s work explores the liminal spaces between natural & artificial, tradition & experimentation, self & other, as she wanders the borderlands of contemporary experience. As a composer, she approaches music composition as ‘a channel for the desire to sing.’ Improvisatory interaction with the immediate environment forms the core of Gretchen’s musical practice.
A University of Utah professor of “Sound For Film”, a composer, improvisor, film scorer, and performer, Gretchen holds an MFA from Mills College and has worked with likes of Zeena Parkins, Fred Fritz, Roscoe Mitchell, etc. With a unique and storied discography, in and in collaboration.
