Who's ready to kick off 2025 the right way with a Yankee Swap at your favorite spot? I know I am! Feel free to add everyone you think would enjoy the event.What to expect:
- Bring a wrapped/covered/bagged gift with a value no greater than $10
- No gift cards/cash, get creative!
- Come to An Sibin, let's grab a few drinks and a bite
- Once we have enough people, we'll be drawing numbers (hopefully by 7pm-ish or so)
- The swap will run as long as it takes, and after we're done Scotty Lombardo will be running karaoke til 2am!
Stay tuned here for the rules on the swap (how many swaps per round, how many times a gift can be swapped, how much time you have for your round etc). I'll be updating here once those details are worked.
RULES FOR THE SWAP ARE AS FOLLOWS

1. At the start of the event, we count up the number of players and the number of gifts to ensure they match. This is the total number of numbered slips that go into the bag.
2. Each player draws a slip from the bag.
3. The player who draws number 1 goes first. They choose a gift from the pile, open it, show it to the crowd, and sit down with it.
4. The player who draws number 2 chooses EITHER to steal the gift from number 1 OR to choose a new gift.
5. If player 2 steals, the player who had their gift stolen chooses a new gift, presents it, and sits down with it
6. If player 2 chooses a new gift, they open it, show it to the crowd, and sit down with it (no swaps if you take an unopened gift from the pile).
7. The game continues through the numbers. Each person has an opportunity to take an unopened gift, which ends the round, or steal a gift, allowing the person who had their gift stolen to either take an unopened gift or steal a gift that has not been stolen this round. This continues until someone chooses an unopened gift.
8. At the end, after all the players have gone, the player who drew number 1 may choose from any available gifts triggering a final round of swaps.
