Yakshagana : A traditional theatrical art form popular in Coastal Karnataka. It is a rare combination of dance, music, song, scholarly dialogues and unique makeup and costumes. A celestial world unfolds before the audience, as singing and drumming form a backdrop to dancers clad in striking costumes. Hence the name Yaksha (celestial) Gana (music). The plot of the Yakshagana play revolves around the stories depicted usually from, Bhagavatha, Ramayana and Mahabharata.
