Y2K Corral: An Early Aughts Line Dance Party!
Schedule
Thu Jun 18 2026 at 05:00 pm to 08:00 pm
UTC-04:00Location
Mechanics' Hall | Portland, ME
About this Event
The Y2K Corral officially begins at 6:00 PM, when Robyn will teach new and review line dance lessons geared for absolute beginners all night long. There will be lots of opportunities to practice new moves to song swaps by N'SYNC, TLC, 3LW, and as many other acronyms and boy bands from that decade as she can find.
Come early at 5:00 PM for an hour of friendly matchmaking before the dance. Brush up on your cootie catcher folding, come up to the ballroom, and make a platonic pal! Robyn will lead the group in a delightful and highly structured hour of speed-friending through one-on-one conversations and group activities.
Fill out the short questionnaire here to have a jury of local peers set you up with a couple of friend matches, or just come by at 5:00 PM for speed-friending. Stay with your new pals for the line dancing 6:00 - 8:00 PM!
Prefer subtler communication? This event has a hanky code designed specifically for facilitating low-stakes romantic and platonic connections! Check out the pic below for details and play along while prioritizing care and consent above all else.
Come with a date! Come alone! Come without dance experience of any kind! This event has a lot of structure from beginning to end and something for everyone. This will be your last opportunity to line dance at Mechanics' Hall before we reconvene in the fall, so take advantage of it!
Thursday, June 18, 5:00 - 6:00 PM is speed-friending, and 6:00 - 8:00 PM is Line Dancing.
Speed-friending is $10 general admission. Line dancing is $10 general admission, OR buy tickets for both activities for $16 general admission.
