From early chat rooms and LiveJournal blogs to TikTok, Discord, and beyond, the internet has shaped how many of us first encountered queerness—sometimes before we even had the words for it.Join us for Y2Gay, an intergenerational storytelling event at the historic Laramie Train Depot. We’re exploring how digital spaces have helped queer people find language, community, resistance, and joy.
Through personal stories, our speakers will reflect on:
💻 Digital Coming-of-Age: Anonymous connections and the first "ASL?"
✊ Resistance: Online activism and the power of finding your "people" globally.
🎨 Creativity: Fandoms, forums, and the messy ways we built ourselves online.
We’ll also hold space for critical questions: Who had access? Who was left out? And how do these digital legacies shape queer life today?
Whether you were sneaking onto message boards in the 90s, scrolling Tumblr at 2 a.m., or finding yourself through a modern algorithm, this is a space to listen, laugh, and reflect together.
