This May, XTERRA returns to the rolling forests, lake trails, and rugged singletrack of Oak Mountain State Park in Alabama for North America’s premier off-road triathlon festival. A three-day celebration that brings together triathletes, adventurers, and outdoor explorers of every age and ability from across the continent and beyond.
For many, it’s the chance to race for XTERRA North American Championship titles. For others, it’s the opportunity to explore iconic Southern trails, connect with the XTERRA community, and live a life off-road in a venue renowned for world-class terrain and welcoming atmosphere.

DAY-BY-DAY AT OAK MOUNTAIN
Thursday — Arrivals & Preparation
- Oak Mountain State Park opens its gates as athletes arrive, settle in, and begin exploring the park’s vast trail network.
Friday — Short Track & Festival Kickoff
- The XTERRA Festival officially opens with Short Track racing taking center stage to give fans and spectators a front row seat to pro racing and XTERRA’s fastest format.
- As evening sets in, the North American Championship Kickoff Concert brings the community together to celebrate the start of race weekend under the Alabama sky.
Saturday — Sprint Racing & Trail Run Day
- The morning opens with the 5K Trail Run, offering a welcoming entry point for runners and walkers to experience Oak Mountain’s trails.
- The first wave of off-road triathletes then take to the trails, with Sprint and Super Sprint Distance Triathlons offering speedsters and first timers a taste of the trails while the youth athletes compete for North American Youth Championship titles and World Championship slots.
Sunday — North American Championship Day
- The XTERRA Full Distance Triathlon takes center stage as athletes tackle Oak Mountain’s signature lake swim, red clay bike course, and wooded trail run.
- For those representing the region, it’s the chance to compete for North American Championship titles across all age divisions. For international elites, it is also the chance to add points to their tally in the World Cup series. But for everybody toeing the line, it’s the chance to experience a destination that feels tailor made of off-road triathlon, with a large dose of southern flavour and in the company of one of the most welcoming communities in trail sports.
