XR Creators Connect #3

Welcome to the third XR Creators Connect meetup, at which we bring together the XR community in The Netherlands!

This edition will feature the following speakers:

• Thomas van Bouwel (independent XR game developer, Cubism, Laser Dance) will go over how he designs XR games to be accessible to newcomers in the medium, using his previous VR/MR puzzle game Cubism and upcoming mixed reality game Laser Dance as case studies.
• Gabriele Romagnoli (ShapesXR) will talk about 'making XR design truly spatial: why and how'. He will explain the core principles of Spatial Design and provide guidance on how to step away from the 2D screen to create mockups you can use to pitch a vision to clients, involve non-technical stakeholders in the design process, offload the initial design to skilled 2D designers and ultimately deliver a more immersive experience for the end user. The talk is illustrated by a real-time demo showing what this process looks like using ShapesXR.
• Thomas van den Berge (independent XR developer, Vermillion) will take us through his journey of creating VR oil painting app Vermillion, including its genesis, how the app has evolved since launch, what he has learned and how he plays into the changing demographic of the Meta Quest userbase which he experiences.

We're also aiming to have some interesting XR hardware at the event to try out before and after the presentations.

The third edition of our meetup is graciously hosted by ROM Utrecht Region, right next to Utrecht Central Station. The event is at the 21st floor of the Stadskantoor at Stadsplateau 1, 3521 AZ, Utrecht. When you arrive, please ask at the reception and you'll be guided to the right room.
