The talk will be led by volunteer ambassador for the Xerces Society and New Mexico Backyard Refuge Program, Elliot Gordon. Elliott Gordon is a geotechnical engineer in New Mexico and pollinator enthusiast. He likes to photograph all of the wildlife in his pollinator garden, which is home to over 150 species of native plants attracting over 1,700 species of insects documented on iNaturalist. As a member of the Cactus & Succulent Society of New Mexico, he grows native cactus and climate-adapted succulents in his garage to support native bees. He is also an amateur entomologist studying the taxonomy of a rare group of native bee and wasp parasites called wedge-shaped beetles.
