In this series, we will take a deeper look at the ten topics highlighted in our new exhibit: X Marks the Spot! which showcases ten of the places around the lake where history has happened. Through our collection of photos, records, and artifacts, we will peel away the layers of local lore and dive into what we know about each topic.
This lecture series will take place at the White Bear Lake Armory. No registration is required!
July 15 – Gerry Spiess and Yankee Girl
Gerry Spiess defied the odds and traveled across the Atlantic in a 10-foot plywood sailboat in 1979 and then the Pacific in 1981. Take a deeper dive with us and view the digitalized vintage films "Loney Voyage" and "Greatest Journey," both productions of Jason Davis, former Channel 5 reporter of Spiess' journeys.
