Wóksape ( the Lakota, or Western Sioux, word for Living Wisdom) comes to life in this series of meticulously stippled pen portraits by artist Ben Dyett, honouring chieftains and visionaries of the Great Plains in the Americas. From Black Elk, Oglala Lakota healer and visionary, to Chief Joseph and Fool Bull, Sioux medicine man, each work captures the dignity, spirit, and resilience of its subject.
Ben’s unique stippling technique, developed through his own experimentation, blends precision with deep reverence for the people he depicts. After decades of nurturing young artists as a primary school teacher, this will be his first public art exhibition.
The Black Swan Hotel is one of Bendigo’s most distinctive places to visit. Established in 1873 as Bendigo’s first officially licensed hotel, it has been welcoming locals and travellers for over 150 years. Today, two floors of Indian Motorcycles and memorabilia provide a unique backdrop for Ben Dyett's works.
