For our last grand submission hold of 2025 we are celebrating the birthday of Wyrd War co-founder Tiffany "Meadow" Kenaley and the arrival of winter with a one-night-only screening of the greatest wrestling dramedy of all time!
Hollywood auteur Robert Aldrich’s final film …ALL THE MARBLES (1981) is a rambunctious full-contact gem in the tradition of gritty character studies of the era, such as PAY DAY (1973), COCKFIGHTER (1974), ROCKY (1976) and RAGING BULL (1980), that zooms in on the trials and tribulations of the low-end independent women wrestling circuit.
Wyrd War favorite Laurene Landon (MANIAC COP) and Vicki Frederick (BODY ROCK) star as The California Dolls, beautiful tag-team underdogs on the bumpy road to stardom with their dubious manager Harry Sears, played by Peter Falk (COLUMBO). Together the trio grind and suplex their way against the odds along the highways and backroads of working-class America, slumming in motels and scarfing pain pills and junk food in between physically punishing matches and emotionally traumatic social indignities, hoping for a chance at one big win at the MGM Grand Hotel in Reno, Nevada. Real life wrestling pioneer Mildred “Queen of the Ring” Burke trained the actors for athletic realism that at times resembles raw documentary filmmaking.
