Get ready for an inspiring History Talk & Short distance Walking Tour to the Lighthouse with Historian & Author Tony Franks-Buckley.
The WW2 themed Mess Cafe inside Fort Perch Rock is open for Lunch so come and get some of Aunty Moe’s Wartime Scouse. We also have Afternoon Tea Available with a Range of Cakes, Scones and Ice Cream.
Our Courtyard Talk begins in our seated area at 12pm with the Origins of Fort Perch Rock in Napoleonic Times giving a detailed history of the Fort from Napoleonic Wars to Modern Day. You will then hear about Life on the Homefront during WW2 and hear the Secrets of the Seaside Resort during Wartime.
The Homefront Campaign played an important role In helping the fight against the Nazis from Home. Whilst conflicts were taking place in Europe, it was the people on the Homefront keeping the country going.
You will hear stories of The Blitz, The arrival of the US Army, German Spies in Wallasey, The AA Guns at the Red Noses, The Maunsell Forts in the River Mersey, local Rationing, The Dig for Victory Campaign, Ladies and their new duties, Evacuation, War Dances at the Tower Ballroom and Post War Rebuilding Period of the Seaside Resort.
