About this Event

In this meeting, we are going to address how the Wildlife Urban Interface impacts buildings and development in the cities / counties within the bay area. We will talk about what you need to know about landscapes and planting within the WUI, and how the architecture interacts with it.

This talk is about the growing need for climate adaptation, through mindful design in the WUI. According the California State Fire Marshal, California’s seasonally dry Mediterranean climate lends itself to wildfires, and in an effort to better prepare, CAL FIRE is required to classify the severity of fire hazard in areas of California. the talk will cover which zones are highly fire prone and what precautions need to be taken.
