This workshop will be teaching section 1 of the Wudang Dui Jian form (Wudang Two-person Sword Form), as detailed in Huang Yuanxiao's Major Methods of Wudang Sword.
Containing sword methods from the Wudang 13 basic cuts, this form teaches the applications of movements in a controlled manner as an intermediate step to sparring and full swordplay.
Each section is able to be independently learnt and practiced, but can also be combined into a single longer form.
It will be from 2:30pm-5:45pm, covering all the movements, and showing how to properly apply them.

FAQ:
Who is this for?:
Anyone who is interested in traditional Chinese sword arts (jianfa), and developing their skills further.
Who is eligible to attend?:
Anyone over 18 who is interested in Chinese sword arts from the Wudang tradition.
Do I need to know how to use a sword?:
No. But some experience will help. If you have practiced Taijijian (Taiji Sword), Shaolin jian, Xingyi jian or any other solo form, you're more than ready to learn.
What is Wudang Dui Jian?:
Wudang Dui Jian is a traditional two person sword form developed by Li Jinglin and his sword unit during the 1920's, based upon their practice and practical application of jianfa. It is designed and passed along as an intermediate step between solo practice and sparring. A number of lineages have passed this form down. Wudang Dan Pai, Fu Style Wudang, Guo style Wudang, etc. It is almost identical between all lineages.
What equipment do I need?:
For the workshop a TCSL approved wooden sword will be required. If you don't have one, spares will be available to borrow on the day.
How is this different to Taijijian/other kung fu style I already know?:
For Taiji players: This form is the two person partner form that is listed in Chen Weiming's Taiji Sword and Other Writings manual, detailing the Yang style Taiji jian, for further development. This form progresses your training.
For non-Taiji Chinese sword practitioners: This is a rarely taught form that will allow you to understand the essence of Wudang Sword.
How can I keep practicing this?:
UTS Kung Fu has a regular Sword Training session every Saturday from 2:30pm-5:30pm that all club members are eligible to attend, and practice jianfa at.
