About this Event

We’re happy to announce our third WSW Host Grant winner is Vanessa Gomez, owner and instructor at Flow In The City, an urban yoga sanctuary. Check out what we've planned for you.

Sweat. Sip. Snack. Inspiration + Community

In celebration of Wellness Month, we’re inviting Portland into the newest Urban Sanctuary to learn what wellness is for Vanessa Gomez. And it starts with designing spaces for our truest self and the community we want to build.

Vanessa’s intention and passion to not only bring people together, but also connect them, is how SWEAT + SIP came to be. Knowing who you’re flowin next to is what makes the energy in the room even better. Normally hosted on Friday evenings at Flow In The Citywe are bringing SWEAT + SIP + SNACK exclusively to the WSW community in partnership with 3 other women owned brands. We'll also get the chance to learn about their entrepreneurial journey.

During the Meet Up, you'll be led through a 30 min flow by Vanessa, followed by sips offered by Cristina of Gonzales Wine Company and Kris of Gud Bru complimented by a delicious charcuterie spread (vegan options included) curated by Johanna of Gather Around Nutrition.

Come join us as we treat you to an afternoon of moving your body, wine & kombucha tastings, lunch, and inspiration with the WSW community. Mats are available if you don't have one and please come dressed in clothes you can move and stretch in.

This is a $55 unique experience being gifted to the WSW founder community for $25 a ticket. A portion of the cost has been subsidized by ALIST and FLOW IN THE CITY, as well as paid for in part by our sponsors (OnPoint Credit Union, PSU Center for Women’s Leadership and Gathering Around Nutrition) and donors of our WSW Community Fund.

*1 ticket per customer. Ticket sales are nonrefundable. This invitation is for women identifying business owners only. Thank you for your understanding.

Street parking and a pay to park lot is across the street.

BACKGROUND

The intent of these meetups are to connect true business owners together so they can strengthen their relationships with others struggling through entrepreneurship. Business ownership isn’t for everyone and the folx attending are a certain subset of our community. Of course we are also treating them to an afternoon and much needed break, but the conversations center mostly around navigating this journey and knowledge sharing with other women. We don’t want to exclude folx looking for connection, but at the same time we want to hold onto the integrity of what this is. It truly is a rare and important space. If you feel this is you, you are welcome. If you don’t, I invite you to make a donation to the WSW Community goFundme campaign to show your support.

June WSW's Meet Up Host is Vanessa Gomez, owner and instructor at Flow In The City. Vanessa identifies as a first generation Colombiana, East coast mami through and through, and her pronouns are she/her. After 10 years of working in the sports and fitness industry, primarily with college athletes, Vanessa moved to Portland in 2020 and entered a new chapter in her life.

Born in Miami and influenced by her time spent in the vibrant cities of NYC and Philadelphia, Vanessa struggled to find a yoga space that reflected her. Through the pandemic she earned her yoga certification, launched a youTube channel to share her practice, and started teaching for local studios and at Nike. But it still wasn’t her fullest expression. Combining her love for athletic movement, as well as her personal culture and upbringing, Vanessa opened Flow In The City in March of 2023. An urban sanctuary.

June's WSW Meet Up Lunch is being provided and sponsored by Gathering Around Nutrition owners and chefs Johanna Glaser and Jed Thaggard. Johanna will be joining us at the meet up. Her pronouns are she/they and both Johanna and Jed identify as queer.

Chef Johanna is a personal chef & holistic nutritionist who is passionate about creating nourishing dishes featuring fresh produce from local farms and wild-harvested foods. She operates with the wisdom that our bodies are microcosms of the larger living earth and that in turn, each individual has different needs to support optimal health, in contrast to the one-diet-fits-all approach. Chef Johanna's cooking style is informed by farm-to-table and focuses on creating meals that highlight the abundance of each season in the PNW. Her work is further influenced by her Italian roots and the crafts of cooking passed down to her by her grandmother and mother from a young age. Upon graduating from NUNM in Portland, OR with a Master's in Nutrition, Chef Johanna created Gather Around Nutrition to share her passion for seasonal eating and holistic nutrition with her community. Gather Around Nutrition provides farm-to-table meal prep services, postpartum meal care packages, and farm-to-table event catering. She is overjoyed to see how the business has grown over the past 3 years and is looking forward to creating even more community rooted in wellness.

Menu offered: Chaucuterie board (Vegan option available)

June's WSW Meet Up wine tasting is being provided by Gonzales Wine Company. Owner and Latina winemaker Cristina Gonzales (she/her) is the granddaughter of migrant farm workers from Texas, who moved to Wisconsin to pick cherries in search of a better life. Her passion for wine began while traveling as a backpacker through South America in 2001 and landing in Mendoza, Argentina, the epicenter of South American Malbec. When she returned to the United States, she entered the wine industry and eagerly gained hands-on experience, working harvests in California, Oregon, Tasmania, and Australia. She launched Gonzales Wine Company in 2010, which strives to create minimal intervention, small production, accessible wines. Representation Matters. Gonzales wines strive to serve, inspire and motivate other underrepresented communities that anything is possible. Cristina serves on the board of AHIVOY Oregon and the Oregon Wine Board. She resides in Portland, Oregon with her son, Julian, their cattle dog, Bean and makes bold red and aromatic white wines from Washington and Oregon grapes in the heart of SE Portland.
