WSTB Physical Agility Exam at Coyote Valley: 7/20/2024

Pre-employment Physical Agility Testing for Law Enforcement and Corrections:

South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium (The Academy) provides entry level physical agility testing to applicants for law enforcement officers. The following Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB) has been developed:

Work Sample Test Battery

a. 99 yard obstacle course

b. 32 foot body drag (165 lbs.)

c. 6 foot chain link fence climb

d. 6 foot solid wall climb

e. 500 yard sprint

f. 1.5 mile run (scored separately)

Except for the inclusion of a 1.5 mile run, the physical agility test otherwise mirrors the WSTB physical agility test standard required for graduation from a California POST accredited peace officer academy.

Physical Agility for Corrections:

The Academy offers testing for employment in the field of Corrections, upon agency request. The elements included in this exam are:

a. 99 yard obstacle course

b. 32 foot body drag (165 lbs.)

c. body lift (165 lbs.)

d. 500 yard sprint

e. 1.5 mile run (completed in 14 minutes or less)

Test Duration/Specifics

• Plan to arrive 15 minutes before start time to register.
• End time will depend largely on exam group size; i.e., a larger group will take longer to test; therefore, anticipate an on-site maximum of five hours.
• You must bring a government-issued photo ID to the exam.

Test Scoring and Results

Your score will be presented in two parts: a number value for the WSTB and a Pass/Fail for the 1.5 mile run. Most agencies require an entry level qualifying score minimum of 320 for the WSTB and a maximum run completion time of 14 minutes for the 1.5 mile run (Salinas PD allows for a run completion time of 16 minutes).

Test results are emailed to you in the form of a secure pdf attachment, usually within 72 hours of your test session. Please check your email Spam folder for these documents before calling our office for test scores.

Practice Sessions for the WSTB:

The Academy offers optional practice sessions for the WSTB (scheduled separately and charged a separate fee). In the session, you will receive instruction and practice on the Fence Climb, Obstacle Course, Dummy Drag, 500 yard run and 1.5 mile run.
