Part 1: March 10th & Part 2: March 24th
Join the library and presenter Becky Jeeves in this two-part introductory writing workshop series. We will explore the art of personal storytelling and learn how to shape moments from your own life into compelling narratives.
Through guided writing prompts, we will examine the ways we, as writers, can transform our lived experiences into story using the tools of narrative craft.
We will consider key elements in the storyteller’s toolbox—scene, characterization, and detail—and begin to understand how these
techniques along with the senses (sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch) can strengthen and deepen our work.
Both workshops include a few minutes of writing from prompts. After the free-write, reading and commenting on each other’s work is optional but encouraged. Bring a notepad and
pen (or computer)!
