We all have so many stories to tell. The question is: how can we tell them?

Using such things as photographs, souvenirs, mementos and other items you have at home, this class will give you the opportunity to compile a memoir of events from your life. The work created during your time with us will be suitable for uploading to social media or publishing online.

You will begin your own personal writing project in week one, editing and compiling it before we finish. Your work written during the class will help you create a memoire of memories for others to read.

Week 1: Writing postcard length text based on notable events from your life

Week 2: Finding memories from freewriting

Week 3: Writing from prompts

Week 4: ‘On this Day’ – Telling where you were on days the nation came together

Week 5: Compiling and editing your personal writing project

Week 6: Continuing work on your personal writing project

Week 7: Writing to publish or for the internet

Week 8: Reviewing and next steps…

Please note: in this introductory course, you won’t be asked to read your work out to the class.
