Are you interested in writing your life story? Or want to get feedback on a memoir you're working on?
Join The Detroit Writing Room on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. for a memoir writing workshop with veteran journalist and author John Gallagher.
John will describe the process he followed in writing his new memoir "Rust Belt Reporter" publishing this September from the Wayne State University Press. Guests will also get a copy of the book included with their ticket.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a draft of a memoir they are working on. Guests will be able to read from their memoir-type works and receive critiques from John and other participants. They will also meet a Wayne State University Press representative and get a brief overview of how to pitch their memoir for publication consideration.

The workshop will be held at the Wayne State University Press.

Tickets:
- General admission is $55.
- Each ticket includes 1 copy of "Rust Belt Reporter" (a $26.99 value). Guests will receive their book at the workshop. Additional copies will be available for purchase.
Tickets are non-refundable. Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Registration closes at 4 p.m. EST. on Oct. 16, 2024. Space is limited to 25 guests.

John Gallagher covered Detroit's redevelopment efforts as a reporter and columnist for the Detroit Free Press for 32 years before his retirement In 2019. He Is the author of multlple books, including his latest, "Rust Belt Reporter: A Memoir," published by Wayne State University Press in September 2024.
