Writing Workshop: Walking Together: From Grief to Collective Liberation
About this Event
"Walking Together: From Grief to Collective Liberation" is a writing workshop created out of personal and collectives losses, for BIPOC artists and writers to come together to process individual and collective grief in community.
Using art and writing as tools in an expression of love, Eddie Garcia, in partnership with Houston Writers of Color and the Houston Climate Justice Museum, will hold space for folks to hold one another and move through grief toward dismantling systems that keep us grieving in private and alone, metabolizing that grief toward practices rooted in healing, joy, and collective liberation. Honoring relatives whose lives have been cut short by the extreme violence of colonization and who have transitioned has always been a collective tradition toward healing.
This event series will center that tradition so BIPOC artists can learn together and carry the practices back to their communities.
