ABOUT THE WORKSHOP INSTRUCTOR:

Tracy M. King-Sanchez

Tracy's writing has appeared in The Southampton Review, Midnight Breakfast, The Normal School, and other literary magazines. Her short story, That Sigourney Weaver Thang - from which the main character of her novel first appeared - was a Notable Mention in 2016’s The Best American Short Stories. Tracy holds a BA in English, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing & Literature. In addition to writing, she directed, wrote, produced and edited a short film, Artistic Closure, which played at film festivals. She served as a juror for The Stony Brook Film Festival. Tracy is currently working on a novel, a collection of short stories set in both Brooklyn and Paris, and a memoir of letters examining her childhood as a foster child and how it has led her to yet another home in Amsterdam.

• Craft Talk: Story Structure - 3-Act, 4-Act, 12-Point, A Hero's Journey, Snowflake, Current Events Method, and more.
• Craft Exercises - a series of short writing exercises illustrating story structure.
• ICE CREAM BREAK - ice cream is included in the price of workshop.
• Workshopping - Share/Feedback on writing exercises.
• Craft Talk II: Crucial Elements of Story Structure
• Craft Talk II Exercises - short writing exercises making use of story structure elements.
• Working Draft - complete a working draft of a structural outline to be used to begin writing a short story, novel, creative non-fiction essay, screenplay, or any other genre of storytelling.
