A workshop dedicated to writing about mothering and mothers.
About this Event

As the many recent books on motherhood demonstrate, motherhood is a rich subject for writing. Jacqueline Rose writes, “Motherhood is the place in our culture where we lodge, or rather bury, the reality of our own conflicts, of what it means to be fully human…Mothers cannot help but be in touch with the most difficult aspects of any fully lived life. Along with the passion and pleasure, it is the secret knowledge that they share.”

This workshop will provide a space to explore our experiences of mothering through writing in any genre. We will mine the rich and abundant material that comes from the experience of mothering or being mothered, and I hope that the act of describing our experiences empowers us as writers and as mothers.

Open to anyone who is a mother (self-defined) or wants to write about mothers. Open to both novices and seasoned writers.

About your facilitator:

Coco Lone Neal is a mother, rambler, writer and once-upon-a-time archaeologist. Connecting into a community of mothers who write has been a life-line. You can find her work in The Clearing, Caught by the River and Motherlore Magazine.
