About this Event
Welcome to Writing Hours Club! (Any Genre Welcome!)
Have you been meaning to start (or finish) your first book… but keep doing literally everything else instead? Same 😌
This is a low-pressure, cozy writing meet-up for people who want to work on their first book — any genre, any stage, any level.
Poetry, fiction, nonfiction, memoir, essays, weird hybrid things that don’t have a name yet — you’re welcome here.
What this is:
📖 A bi-weekly writing meet-up (every two weeks on Fridays)
☕ We meet in different coffee shops around the city
🧠 A way to get out of the house and write alongside other writers
🤝 Gentle accountability, community, and shared focus
What this is not:
❌ A workshop
❌ Forced sharing
❌ Pressure to talk if you don’t want to
You can:
- Write quietly
- Chat a bit
- Discuss projects (or not!)
- Just exist in a room where other people are also writing
Sometimes we’ll check in, sometimes we won’t. The goal is simple: show up and work on your book — together.
About me 👋
My name is Lera. I’m a poet and a PhD student at Concordia University, currently working on my first poetry book. I started this group because writing alone at home can feel isolating, and writing near other people can be surprisingly powerful. I also love discovering new coffee shops in Montreal so you can join me in this coffee shop-book-writing crawl.
If you’ve been looking for a reason to take your writing seriously (without turning it into a stressful productivity contest) this space is for you.
Let’s build books, slowly, together 💛
