About Dr. Kelcey Ervick:
Kelcey Ervick uses her writing and visual art to tell lesser-known stories of women’s history. Her latest book draws from her experiences as a goalkeeper for nationally ranked soccer teams in high school and at Xavier University in the first decades of Title IX. She is the author and illustrator of the new graphic memoir, The Keeper: Soccer, Me, and the Law that Changed Women's Lives, which weaves her personal story with the history of women’s soccer—going back to the 1800s—and the evolution of Title IX. She is the author of three previous award-winning books of fiction and nonfiction, and co-editor of the forthcoming Rose Metal Press Field Guide to Graphic Literature. Her essays, comics, and stories have been published in The Rumpus, The Believer, Washington Post, Lit Hub, and elsewhere. She has received grants from the Indiana Arts Commission, the Sustainable Arts Foundation, and New Frontiers in Arts and Humanities, and is a professor of English and creative writing at Indiana University South Bend.
