Writing a Funding Application

Writing a successful funding application requires well planned and prepared words. This workshop will help with the thinking and planning required to get your words down in a way that effectively describes your activities & ideas and appeals to funders.

We'll explore:

• The 5 W's and an H framework
• Creating a budget and unit costs
• How to get into the funder's mind-set
• Sample applications
• Clarifying funder language e.g. outputs & outcomes; milestones & targets.

By the end of the workshop, you will have:

• More confidence in the writing style required by grant funders
• Insight from the funders’ perspective
• Better understanding of costings and budgets
• Considered your current project ideas & applications

Whilst learning in a group on this topic is hugely beneficial and the coincidental networking always brings an added extra, we are offering 6 one to one 'surgery spots' of 20 minutes each immediately after the training to dig in to the detail of your idea or look at a draft application.

This is an in-person workshop at the Wolseley Community Trust, Plymouth, PL2 3BY.

This workshop will be delivered by Susan Moores. Susan has worked in the areas of community development and youth work and organisational development at grassroots level for over 30 years. She has experience and success in bid writing to Trusts and Foundations; National Lottery funding; and Government regeneration/health programmes.
