About this Event

Join W.W.A’s 6th Annual Meet & Greet
Introducing the 2026-2027 theme: Writing Across the Diaspora

Join us for our sixth annual Meet & Greet as we kick off a new literary year with an introduction to our 2026-2027 theme, Writing Across the Diaspora and this year’s curated syllabus.

We’ll preview the writers and works we’ll explore throughout the year, as well as our weekly discussions and share how we use peer review to strengthen our writing. You’ll also learn about the structure of our workshops, our membership, yearly events and more.

We’ll close the presentation with a Q&A and give everyone plenty of time to mingle, chill, network with other writers & creatives. At the end, we’ll give away 30 sets of our UNRELEASED MERCH and announce 6 lucky RAFFLE WINNERS 🤪

Writers, creatives and all of the above — you all better pop out because it’s going to be a time!! 🎉

Admission: $10

Date: Saturday, September 26
Time: 3:30-5:30pm
Location: Clubhouse Cafe

  • A complimentary glass of wine (must have 21+ ID)
  • Entry into our raffle to win one of six issues of LUNA Magazine
  • First 30 ticket holders receive an exclusive, unreleased W.W.A Lit Kit, a literary box filled with two writing prompt cards, a variety of journaling and stationery supplies, and other creative essentials (MUST BRING ID FOR PROOF - WE WILL NOT SHIP)

This year, Writing Across the Diaspora explores the ways stories preserve, challenge and reimagine our understanding of identity, memory, and belonging across cultures, generations, and geographies. Drawing from a mix of poetry, fiction, memoir, translated literature, and spoken word, we will study the works of many BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ writers such as Joy Harjo, Li-Young Lee, Judith Ortiz Cofer, Mahmoud Darwish, Octavio Paz, Natalie Diaz, Ocean Vuong, Elizabeth Acevedo, Jhumpa Lahiri, Major Jackson, Lesley Nneka Arimah, and other distinguished literary voices whose writing traverses Indigenous, African, Caribbean, Latin American/Latinx, Middle Eastern, and Asian diasporic stories.

Come learn all about WWA and what it means to be part of our community. Or simply come out to support an incredible community of talented writers. <3
