Arts Accelerator is proud to present the "Writer's Room" Story Development Lab!

The Arts Accelerator Writers Room is an interactive writing experience modeled after a professional television writers' room, where writers share their works in progress, exchange feedback, and develop their ideas.

Over time, you’ll learn how to quickly identify and solve creative story problems so you can improve existing scripts, and produce consistent, professional quality output in any narrative format. This includes novels, feature films, TV shows, journalism, documentaries, and more.

Franco, the moderator for the Writer’s Room, is the instructor of the Arts Accelerator’s Screenwriting Masterclass, a weekend-long screenwriting intensive and one of the highest-rated workshops in South Florida. Multiple scripts written during the masterclass have been screened at competitive film festivals.

The Screenwriting Masterclass is only one weekend. Attendees asked for a longer format workshop where they could continue to develop their dramatic writing projects using the Masterclass tools. Many even attended the Masterclass multiple times, so we listened, and the Writers Room was born.

Writers' room attendees will meet around a table to:

• Read excerpts aloud from your works in progress (up to ten minutes in length)
• Receive and share productive, structured, and actionable feedback based on the Screenwriting Masterclass tools. (It’s OK if you haven’t taken the Masterclass)
• Use your time to brainstorm, developing stories from scratch with group feedback
• Develop and practice delivering your loglines, pitches, or outlines

You’ll also get live, one-on-one guidance and feedback.

Franco has discreetly, script-doctored for movies and writers you've heard of. He's directed award-winning music videos and commercials for clients. He worked as an editor on Ed Harris's Academy Award-winning film "Pollack". He designed and animated one of Universal Television's first hit reality shows, "Blind Date". As a writer/producer for FX Channel, he cowrote with 5 time Emmy Award-winning writer Sandy Frank. He enjoys judging film festivals, mentoring emerging filmmakers, and working quietly in the background to help people succeed.

Arts Accelerator is a nonprofit with a mission to enable local talent to create valuable media with global reach.

Florida is full of talent, but for decades, South Florida creatives have had to leave the region to develop their skills and sustainably monetize their talent.

Arts Accelerator was founded to stem this creative drain by helping local talent develop sustainable entertainment industry careers in South Florida.

To do this, Arts Accelerator offers programming designed to provide local creatives with exposure to industry professionals, rapid upskilling, talent discovery, and promotion & monetization opportunities.

Programming includes film workshops, film festivals, networking events, live script readings, and distribution opportunities designed to help local talent develop sustainable entertainment industry careers in South Florida.
