About this Event
Everyone seems to love Governor Andy Beshear. Find out why.
Andy Beshear, two-term Democratic Governor of Kentucky, beat his Republican opponent in 2024 by six percentage points, in a state which Trump won by 30 percentage points. Governor Beshear runs his state with clear moral vision and imperative. Due to a Republican supermajority in Kentucky's state houses, Beshear routinely vetoes state legislation on reproductive freedom, on LGBTQ rights, on conversion therapy, on workers rights, and more-- and his vetoes are frequently overridden. How does he manage to achieve such high approval ratings among Republican and Democratic voters? He not only enjoys high ratings, but in certain polls he is named as one of the most popular Democratic governors in the country, including among young voters. Governor Beshear hosts a regular podcast (andybeshearpodcast.com), which is now also available on Sirius XM. Dedicated to bringing disparate voices and opinions together, Governor Beshear's podcast covers hot-button issues with frankness, humor, and a very real willingness to listen.
Brian Tyler Cohen, one of the leading voices in new media, will discuss Governor Beshear's widening popularity with him, and get his take on regional, national, and international issues. Brian hosts podcasts and youtube programs, including his enormously popular video podcast, No Lie. There’s not a Democrat around who isn’t itching to be interviewed by Brian. His videos receive millions of views, as he makes the issues accessible and wildly engaging. In his spare time, he’s written a terrific book called Shameless: Republicans’ Deliberate Dysfunction and the Battle to Preserve Democracy. Shameless focuses on the bewildering complacency of the GOP and right wing media towards the MAGA movement and Trump. The great news is, it’s now in paperback.
