Wren Arkose is a singer-songwriter based in Melbourne, known for her โ€˜sad girlโ€™ songs. After almost a decade of living and performing in Melbourne, Wren is bringing her sad girl tunes to her home-state of Queensland for the first time.
In May of this year, Wren released her debut single 'Bones'. The song marked a new way of creating music for Wren, and is the epitome of a sad girl banger. Wren's music is a blend of folk with undercurrents of dream-pop and alt-rock. This year she has played at St Kilda Festival and Port Fairy Folk Festival, and is now coming home to Meanjin for Big Sound.
Wren will be supported by Kiwat Kennell and Arianna - join us for a night of folk and rock bops, and get ready to embrace the sad-girl state of mind.

Wren will be supported by Kiwat Kennell and Arianna.
Kiwat Kennell is an Eastern Torres Strait Islander artist whose music is a powerful exploration of identity, resilience, and mental health. Blending evocative storytelling with soulful melodies, he challenges stigma around menโ€™s mental health and encourages deeper conversations. Coming from a family deeply involved in law enforcement and government, Kiwat grew up with an awareness of both institutional authority and the systemic barriers faced by Indigenous people. His music carries a unique depth - an intimate reflection of struggle, strength, and self-discovery. Through his artistry, Kiwat creates space for vulnerability, reminding listeners that music can be a force for healing and change
Hailing from Tamborine Mountain, Queensland, singer-songwriter Arianna is an emerging contemporary-folk musician. Inspired by the world around her, she had honed her sound to reflect the earthy tones of the Australian-coastal landscape and its vibrant folk music scene. Following her captivating sets at festivals, to her encapsulating support slots for the likes of Shane Howard (Goanna), Kyle Lionhart, and Ziggy Alberts โ€“ she is a rising artist to keep on your radar.
