. Writing on the Wall are launching an Anthology of writing from participants of our Different Voices Shared Lives project.
About this Event

Different Voices Shared Lives is an incredible collection of writing by members of black, Asian and other racial minority communities from across the Liverpool City Region. The anthology is the culmination of an extensive creative writing programme, delivered in partnership with the City Region’s six Library Services, in which professional writers supported the development of new writing talent.

Different Voices Shared Lives gives new insights into the region’s culture and heritage and brings to the fore neglected histories and new and powerful voices. Join us for the launch of this important new book with performances and readings by some of the writers featured. There will be readings from our facilitating artists from the course Amina Atiq, Natalie Denny and Blue Saint.

Amina Atiq is a Yemeni-Scouse writer, a performance artist, facilitator and activist. She was awarded the Liverpool John Moore’s University Citizenship for her active and community engagement work and awarded the best North West volunteer by Human Appeal. A Young Associate for Curious Minds and BBC Words First Finalist 2019. She has been featured on various artistic platforms such as BBC Radio 5 live, BBC Radio 6 music, BBC 4 Radio, Bitesize, Arab News, The Independent, British Muslim TV @ thewarehouse, Writing on the Wall, Skinny magazine, Whispering Dialogue, CAAT, and Human Appeal.

Blue Saint (Daniel Sebuyange) is a Congolese and British rapper, singer-songwriter, spoken word artist, actor, producer and designer. Over his music career he has developed an eclectic musical style that draws on a range of influences and genres, often combining and blending elements of hip-hop, RnB and electronic music. The Writing on the Wall Young Writers alumni and winner of Merseyrail Sound Station 2014, writes lyrics that incorporate a range of political, social, philosophical and cultural references with themes usually centred around social injustices.

Natalie Denny is a writer from Liverpool. Her roles include Programme Manager for Anthony Walker Foundation, and Director of Skywriters, an initiative that supports people to develop and grow through creative education. She is also the cofounder of The Goddess Projects, an organisation that's mission is to empower, inspire and assist Black women and women of colour to develop and build in their communities. Natalie was runner up in Writing on the Wall's 'Pulp Idol' 2019 competition and is the author of children's educational book 'Her Hair: A Crown', a resource developed in partnership with Manchester University. She has recently been signed with Manchester based agency Madeleine Milburn and was a finalist in this years MIB awards.

Our region’s diversity is one of our great strengths; something to be celebrated and encouraged. It enriches our culture, economy, and the very fabric of our society
