About the Artist Claire Hamlin:
Local artist, maker, and owner of Larrie Laine, Claire Hamlin, creates colorful woven work, digital paintings, cyanotypes, graphite and watercolor work, décor, and accessories. Claire’s work can be recognized across mediums for its bright colors and playful spirit. Claire obtained her BFA in Photography & Intermedia from Western Michigan University, where her thesis work explored gender roles through the use of colorful digital photography portraits.
Artist Statement:
In my woven work, I seek to embrace color, fun, and whimsy. Created from natural and man-made materials, the work unapologetically defies the current décor trend of white on white. Each piece is created by hand, slowly, with curiosity and a childlike spirit. With this work, I hope to inspire others to play without worrying about current trends or expectations.
