Memoir writing isn't just for seasoned writers—it's for anyone in the midst of living a life.
In this hour-long session, you'll learn how to generate and develop ideas and themes for your personal memoir. We’ll explore techniques to manage your fears and introduce tools to help establish a solid writing practice. Don’t forget to bring a notebook and pen!
Meet Your Facilitator:
Patti Murphy is a writer and educator with over thirty years of classroom experience. She believes it's never too late to learn new skills or become the person you were always meant to be.
Patti is the author of The Stafford Falls Series, with the first book nominated for the 2021 Independent Audiobook Award in the LGBTQ+ category. Originally from Penetanguishene, she now lives in Ottawa with her partner and their spirited Tibetan spaniel, Arthur.

About the Woven Word Symposium:
The Woven Word Symposium, taking place on Thursday, November 28, 2024, is a full-day celebration of storytelling and writing. It brings together authors and aspiring writers for a variety of workshops and events. Participants can explore topics such as writing for children, self-publishing, and memoir writing. The day also offers opportunities to join an open mic poetry session and attend a slam poetry performance. In the afternoon, a Reader's Marketplace will showcase children's, adult, and young adult authors, with their books available for purchase. The event will conclude with a special evening workshop on writing for monologue performance.
