Woven Wonder Bags is a gentle, hands-on introduction to the world of weaving—perfect for tiny makers who love to create with their hands. Designed for absolute beginners, this 3-week class introduces kids to the calming, rhythmic joy of weaving using colorful yarn and a simple bag template.Young artists will learn how to follow a pattern, loop yarn, and weave carefully to construct their own small, wearable bags while building fine motor skills, coordination, and confidence. Each week builds on the last, ending with a finished bag to take home and show off! This class is a wonderful foundation for future fiber art classes like beginner crochet or finger knitting—and can be repeated to continue skill-building and community.
Weekly Breakdown:
Week of 11/2: Getting Started + Bag Base
Learn how to follow a weaving template
Practice looping yarn and creating the base of your bag
Complete the first steps toward a finished bag
Week of 11/9: Weaving & Pattern Practice
Refresh and repeat basic weaving techniques
Add new colors and patterns to your bag
Begin constructing the sides of your bag
Week of 11/16: Finishing Techniques + Final Project
Complete weaving the bag
Learn finishing techniques: securing edges, adding handles, and embellishments
Show off your finished, handmade bag!
