About this Event
Woven Voices: Cello & Guzheng World Premiere
A Dallas Exclusive Historic Musical Dialogue
Join us for a transcendental performance where 300 years of Western classical history meets the royal lineage of Chinese strings. This is more than a concert; it is a cultural revolution.
• Mr. Joseph Kuipers (World-Renowned Cello Virtuoso): A leading figure in the contemporary cello world and a distinguished protégé of the global cello titan Steven Isserlis. Having collaborated with icons like Yo-Yo Ma, Kuipers will perform on a legendary 18th-century antique masterpiece cello—a 300-year-old historical treasure.
• Master Shui Wen-chun ( Living Grandmaster): A direct descendant of the lineage that invented the modern 21-string Guzheng. As the founder of the Dunhuang Guzheng Ensemble with over 30 years of heritage from Taiwan, she is the definitive soul of contemporary Guzheng art.
• Ms. Uko Adams (Texas’ Premier Guzheng Authority): The only formally trained Guzheng virtuoso in Texas under Master Shui’s lineage. Adams presents a historic feat: the "Musical Decoding" of the Oscar-winning Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon score, shattering the boundaries between Eastern scales and Western piano complexity.
