Worst Quality Crab Podcast - Live!

Join KALW's celebration of AAPI Heritage Month with the team behind Worst Quality Crab — the Asian American food culture podcast — for a special live edition on Thursday, May 21 at 7 PM.

Hosts Freesia Lee and Samson Lee welcome award-winning author Bonnie Tsui for an evening exploring food, family traditions, movement, and Asian American identity through stories rooted in Chinatown, home cooking, and cultural memory.

Freesia and Samson Lee are the duo behind Worst Quality Crab. Freesia is a 5th generation San Franciscan and long time lover of food and storytelling. She works on the Communications team at the Asian Art Museum, spending her days telling the stories of Asian and Asian American art and artists. Samson is originally from New York, still quietly clings to his East Coast bias, and has worked in the ad-tech industry for man years. When not working or podcasting, they are cultivating new and old food traditions with their three young daughters.

is an award-winning journalist and the bestselling author of On Muscle, Why We Swim, and American Chinatown, which won the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature. Her books have been translated into more than a dozen languages, and her writing has been recognized and supported by Harvard University, the National Press Foundation, and the Best American Essays series.

• We recommend taking BART/MUNI, exiting at Montgomery, and walking two blocks north
• Ride-shares can drop off and pick up directly in front of the venue
• If you drive, there are several garages within two blocks of the event location
