Rev. John D. Zizioulas, the late Greek Orthodox Bishop who served as the Metropolitan of Pergamon until his death in 2023, wrote that the Christian Community, "has its roots in the future and its branches in the persent." Because our roots are deep in the future God promises, a future full of hope, love, faith, we have the courage to live lives of hope. We don't live this hope as single trees though but as a forest of trees whose roots are connected to one another, supporting one another, communicating hope and strength to one another.
