Are you a like-minded lunar wanderer? Then come and join us!
We are going to set off from Old Leigh, the scent of salt and fish & chips still lingering in the air. The Worm Moon—big, bright, and slightly mystical—rises over the estuary like a celestial spotlight, ready to guide us along the legendary Cinder Path for our Moon Walk (sadly, no Michael Jackson moves required… unless you insist).
As we head along the path, the railway to your left hums with the occasional train, full of confused commuters wondering where all these moon-gazing oddballs are headed. To your right, the estuary stretches out like a silvery dream, reflecting the moonlight in shimmering ripples.
At Chalkwell Beach, we will pause—perhaps for a quick sip of something warm from a hip flask, or just to stand in awe at the lunar glow. The mudflats glisten, the wind whispers secrets, and for a brief moment, it feels like the whole world is wrapped in some kind of cosmic magic.
Then, we will turn back, retracing our steps through the moonlit night, a little wiser, a little saltier, and fully initiated into the Secret Society of Worm Moon Walkers.
