WHO: Valley Fiber Arts Guild members (https://qcvalleyfiberarts.org/) and friends, family and other QC knitting* and other needle crafting folk who want to participate.
WHAT: Worldwide Knitting in Public celebration/knit out
Worldwide Knit in Public Day (WWKIP Day) is an annual global event held on the second Saturday of June. Initiated in 2005 by Danielle Landes, it encourages fiber artists to gather in public spaces, socialize, and show that knitting is a vibrant, modern, and inclusive community activity.
Fiber Inclusivity: While the name emphasizes knitting, the event is entirely inclusive of crocheters, spinners, and other fiber artists.
WHERE: The shady glen adjacent to the Rose Garden at Vander Veer Park (See map image with meeting area circled)

HOW: Come to the park and use the lots or service road parking. There are restrooms in the conservatory at the other end of the rose garden near the parking lot. There are several coffee shops and affordable food options nearby (see some ideas below map).
Bring a picnic blanket, camp chairs or whatever you like (folding tables even!)
Bring drinking water and snacks if you like.
WHY: Worldwide Knitting in Public Day is a special day for promoting the timeless craft of making soft goods with yarn and two sticks. The health and well-being benefits are numerous not to mention the social benefits of having friends who stitch (all needle crafts really!)
South of the park on Main St: Main Street Coffee (drive through only), Iron and Grain Coffee, Red Band (down Main on 13th and Brady) and Aldi, and Dollar Tree (cheap snacks)
North of the park on Brady: Green Thumbers Cafe, and Coffee Revolution
Hilltop/Harrison: Brewed Book (coffee, tea and light pastry options), Rocks Anchor Grill, and Village Inn (two take out/sit down options)
