The French composer, pianist and conductor Philippe Rombi is guest of honour to this year’s World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert. His scores are featured in the films of François Ozon (𝙎𝙬𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙤𝙤𝙡, 𝙅𝙚𝙪𝙣𝙚 𝙚𝙩 𝙟𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙚, 𝙋𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙚), Christian Carion (𝙅𝙤𝙮𝙚𝙪𝙭 𝙉𝙤ë𝙡), Christophe Barratier (𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙯) and Dany Boon (𝘽𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙪𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙯 𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝘾𝙝’𝙩𝙞𝙨, 𝙍𝙞𝙚𝙣 à 𝙙é𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙧). With over 50 credits to his name, Philippe Rombi has become an established name in the French film and music industry. His most recent works include the two psychological thrillers 𝘽𝙤î𝙩𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙞𝙧𝙚 (2021) and 𝙑𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 (2023) directed by Yann Gozlan, the crime comedy 𝙈𝙤𝙣 𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙚 (2023) and the biopic about French playwright Marcel Pagnol, 𝙇𝙚 𝙏𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙨 (2022). As guest of honour Philippe Rombi will be present at the event where a selection of his works will be performed.
𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱
This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner is Elliot Goldenthal. The American composer is known for his fusion of orchestral, jazz, rock and electronic music and has been celebrated numerous times by the Academy Awards, Golden Globes and the World Soundtrack Awards. Goldenthal often collaborates with his life partner, director Julie Taymor (𝗧𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘀, 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮, 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘀). Other notable directors in his oeuvre include Michael Mann (𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁, 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝘀), Neil Jordan (𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲,𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝘆), Gus van Sant (𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘄𝗯𝗼𝘆) and David Fincher (𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻³).
𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯
Simon Franglen is also a prominent guest at this year's World Soundtrack Awards. In 2023, he won the Discovery of the Year Award for 𝘼𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙧: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 (2022). Simon Franglen is anything but a newcomer to the music industry. He collaborated on award-winning albums by the likes of Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and Toni Braxton, and collaborated with composers such as Howard Shore for 𝗦𝗲𝟳𝗲𝗻 (1995) and James Horner for 𝙏𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙘 (1997). With 𝘼𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙧: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧, he takes over from Horner, who tragically passed away in 2016, as composer for the Avatar franchise. His score for the second Avatar instalment was an immediate success for which he took home the Discovery of the Year Award.
Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Maestro Dirk Brossé will perform music by Philippe Rombi and Simon Franglen during the World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert 2024.

Simon Franglen is dit jaar ook een prominente gast op de World Soundtrack Awards. In 2023 won hij de Discovery of the Year Award voor 𝘼𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙧: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 (2022). Simon Franglen is allesbehalve een nieuwkomer in de muziekindustrie. Hij werkte mee aan bekroonde albums van onder andere Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson en Toni Braxton en werkte samen met componisten als Howard Shore voor 𝗦𝗲𝟳𝗲𝗻 (1995) en James Horner voor 𝙏𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙘 (1997).
