As a way of saying thank you to our rivers
and thank you to all the people and organizations in our community that are working hard to keep our rivers healthy and protected,
we invite you to our 3rd annual World Rivers Day Celebration
hosted by The River Alchemy Project & Vox Lumina.
World Rivers Day is a UN designated day of global celebration of the world’s waterways that has been happening on the 4th Sunday of September since 2005.
On this day all around the world, local events “highlight the many values of our rivers, strive to increase public awareness, and encourage the improved stewardship of all rivers.”
Here in Pittsburgh...
the River Alchemy Project & Vox Lumina are hosting a gathering of river-loving people and river-loving organizations to celebrate our rivers and acknowledge the accomplishments of the past year.
We will make river-loving art and water-loving music by Voxylu & the Dreamers.
We will parade down to the river and give thanks to the river together.
We will share stories about our favorite rivers, why they are so special to us, and the good times we’ve had in them, on them or by them.
And we will honor the people and organizations in our local communities that are working day after day to protect our beautiful rivers.
All are welcome and it's free & family friendly.
*** Please note: The path to the river is unpaved, so wear some sure-footed shoes!***
