Vanguard Reed Quintet will premiere two works by Michigan-based comopser Grey Grant: an original reed quintet, Futch; and an arrangement of their saxophone quartet, There Was a Mystic Reality We Lived in Once. Also on the program are two works inspired by nature: selections from the tree-based minimalistic Splinter by Marc Mellits; and Thaw by Beck Turro, which evokes scenes from their trip to the Acadia National Park. Closing the show will be a suite from Kurt Weill's Threepenny Opera.Vanguard is thrilled to be joined by saxophonist Brian Kachur and bassoonist Natalie Law for this concert!
