World Ocean Day is an internationally celebrated day for people everywhere to unite, celebrate and take action for our shared blue planet. The GSC invites guests of all ages to celebrate the wonders of the ocean, our connectedness with the ocean, and how we can all help protect the ocean. To create a healthy ocean, it’s critical that 30% of our planet’s lands, waters, and ocean are protected. Recently, world leaders made a global commitment to protect 30% of our blue planet by 2030 and this year’s event focus is to show support for that monumental decision.
This year's celebration includes designing 30 x 30 postcards, trivia, coloring pages, temporary tattoos, a bubble station, photo ops with our penguin mascot, special aquarium talks, and more! Additional activities will also be hosted by our partners: Greensboro Recycling, Greensboro Water Resources, and Reconsidered Goods.
The GSC's World Oceans Day event is celebrated as part of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums’ Party for the Planet.
World Ocean Day activities are free with general admission or GSC membership.
