Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day and Global Big Day with our beginner-friendly birding hike through High Park. We will start with a tutorial on how to use binoculars (we have binoculars you can borrow). Then we will hit the trails to count the birds in High Park. Throughout the walk, we will discuss some of the challenges faced by birds in High Park and Toronto. Throughout the walk, we’ll discuss, some of the challenges birds are facing, including insect decline.
Note: This birding hike is meant for adults and older kids (ages 12 and above). For a family- and kid-friendly walk, please check out The Birds Are Back on the same day.
NOTE: Pre-registration is required for all our events, hikes and workshops. We do this to ensure we don’t exceed our capacity for indoor events or the maximum limits for group sizes on High Park’s ecologically sensitive trails. Please register on our website before coming to High Park.
We cannot guarantee availability of walk-in spots. If an event is at capacity, please put yourself on our waitlist. We will notify waitlisted participants if we open up new spots or sessions for our events. Please contact us if you have any questions.
The High Park Nature Centre’s Forest School building is not yet an AODA-compliant facility. We try our best to accommodate accessibility needs on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out to us about any accessibility-related questions you might have.
