Empanadas are made in almost all Hispanic/Latin American countries, but also in Persia (sambüsa), North Africa, Italy (Sicilian 'mpanatigghi), UK (pasty), Greece (kreatopitakia), Indonesia (Minahasan panadas), the Philippines, the USA, Eastern Europe (pirozhki), India (samosa), Israel (knish), Thailand (curry puffs), Mongolia (khuushuur), etc. (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empanada ).Join the first ever World Empanada Olympiad in the Shoalhaven. Celebrate Harmony Week 2025 while tasting and judging delicious empanadas from around the world made by members of our community. BYO drinks and get ready for some great fun!
Tickets are FREE but you must register to attend as we have a limited capacity.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO COMPETE?
Those who participate will need to make a total of 24 empanadas medium size and serve them with any traditional sauce or dip. We will cut them in half so that 48 attendees will have enough to taste and judge each type of empanada. They can be by country, or perhaps by region within a country.
