"Together in Faith" is the theme for this celebration of World Communion Sunday. The morning will include an ecumenical worship service, a short CROPWalk to Olive's Garden to kick off fall fundraising to end hunger, and Pie Baking Contest at Noon (complete with esteemed judges Rep. Lindsey LaPointe (19th District), John Garrido (Co-Founder, Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation and an Angel Visitor. Join friends from Eden UCC, the Congregational Church of Jefferson Park UCC, and the Redeemer of Calvary UMC and the surrounding neighborhood for this great time! WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY: 10am,Onsite and by Zoom. Begun in 1933, this Sunday serves as an opportunity for Christians of all denominations and cultures to gather and celebrate their unity in Christ through the sacrament of Holy Communion, symbolizing their interconnectedness and shared faith. PIE-BAKING CONTEST: 12 Noon. Rules are simple-make a pie, give it a fun name & bring it to Eden by 11:30am on the 5th!! Enjoy the pie, enjoy the judges, enjoy Good Company! There will be gift cards awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place!
CROPWalk: 11:15am (in between worship and your pie!). A hyper-local walk to Olive's Neighborhood Garden for the Hungry to kick-off our fundraising for the national annual walk. This is a community-based walk fundraising event held in cities and towns across the United States, with a mission to transform communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster. It was created to support the global mission of Church World Service, a faith-based organization. After a CROP Hunger Walk ends, 25% of the funds raised is returned to the host community to support local hunger-fighting efforts. Eden and friends have been walking in the Chicago CROPWalk for more than 15 years.
