World Coda + Headgazer & Troilus @ The Holloway Norwich

World Coda is a metalgaze-focused music quartet centering multidisciplinary artist-scholar Yao, active in London, UK. Extending from Yao’s rich philosophical exploration of femininity in fields such as post-modernist psychoanalysis and French theories, World Coda’s music is pinned in the disposition of the lyricist femininity: the desire, the vulnerability, the eroticism, the sensuality, and the romanticized death.

As a well-known artist in China’s extreme metal scene affiliated with Pest Productions, Yao moved to the UK after releasing the full-length blackgaze album under the project Merrow and joined with Jin, Jamie, and Dan to complete the lineup of World Coda. World Coda carries Yao’s blackgaze artistry and absorbs influences from doom jazz, doomgaze, dreampop, goth rock, post-metal and post-hardcore. In their EP trilogy Before Eclipse 1-3, attempts in musical styles are made ranging from shoegaze to post-metal.
