Thinking about a future in sustainability? Join Columbia University's M.S. in Sustainability Management for a special panel workshop series, “Workshops in Sustainability Career Paths and Curriculum,” where alumni share which courses had the biggest impact on their careers—and why.

The workshop series offers an inside look at how Columbia’s M.S. in Sustainability Management's curriculum translates into real-world skills and professional opportunities. Hear directly from graduates as they reflect on the classes that shaped their thinking, built their toolkits, and helped them launch successful careers in sustainability.

Registration is required - registrants can attend virtually or in person.

Director of Student Affairs & DEI - Sustainability Management and Sustainability Science

Advisor, Columbia HBCU Fellowship

Lecturer in Professional Studies, Sustainability Management


Dr. John E. Williams is an Urban Historian, Geographer, Professor, and Higher Education Professional based in Harlem, with foundations rooted deep in the South. His work spans the higher education spectrum, ranging from historical and geographical research and teaching to Academic/Student Support Services and administration. His forthcoming book project, tentatively titled ""Transcending Barriers: Race, Mobility, & Transportation Planning in Atlanta,"" garnered the Dan Sweat Fellowship Award in Urban Planning, Public Policy, and Economic Development. 15+ years of experience through various roles in Higher Education, Academic Support Services, Student Affairs, Teaching, Historical & Geographical Research, Planning, and Leadership; Strong Abilities in initiating and coordinating programs and services, advising, supervising student employees, and working in a team based environment; Demonstrated professional experience in student affairs, leadership development, engagement, and advisement; He received his M.S. in Geosciences (Urban Geography) and Ph.D. in History at Georgia State University; and Masters in History and B.S. in Agribusiness at Florida A&M University (FAMU). He is also a graduate of the M.A. in Higher & Postsecondary Education (HPSE) program at Teachers College, Columbia University.
